This OU admin simply does not care enough about football. They want OU to be the Mayberry of the SEC. Good ol’ folk lookin out for each other! Record be damned!!

I don't think this is correct. I think the OU admin want a clean program with good culture and with people like BV that have the highest level of integrity. I think that they value being proud of the culture and the kind of people that we hire and recruit. BV is a great example of that.

A culture of what, exactly? Losing?

I think you're both correct. You're confirming his thought, although I believe having a healthy culture and also a winning program do not have to be mutually exclusive. It's just that Brent has proven he isn't HC material at someplace like OU.

The state of the program when Barry left may have been embarrassing to some. But the worst of what was happening on OU's campus in 1989 is just a regular Tuesday at Georgia, and nobody bats an eye. Not saying that's a good thing, but holding on to embarrassment over Barry's departure is a waste of time & energy.

We want Whitt we want Whitt

I guess they haven't seen what they felt was needed out of him in practice, but what they've seen on the field with Mateer is a disaster. And some guys actually play better in games. It's like some switch flips, and they become more alive.

Now, if you think he's going to get killed behind our line, that's a whole different issue. Adjust the game plan to include simple outs, bubble screens and TE slants across the middle. Quick passes he can complete and complete before the line collapses.

We don’t know what he looks like because Arbuckle was always going to play Mateer no matter what. We can’t trust what Arbuckle said about bench. Anything said by Brent was just copying Arbuckle because he gave him full O authority

I bet Whitt is better than has been stated. He’s also a big dude and in our run QB scheme he could help. He has a cannon arm too so won’t throw lame ducks like Mateer. He’s also tall so can see and throw over oline

My guess is they start Mateer with a short leash mainly due to road game in Swamp. And he will get yanked fast if not moving ball.

I agree 100%. All I heard coming out of camp was that he had a big, accurate arm and played well. If you're getting your arse kicked, what do you have to lose?
