It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll

Football season is soon. OU has to defeat many tough teams if they wanna get to the top. This is finally the year we have no LR players left, it’s all BV’s team now. Showed some flashes and some stinkers. I think it all comes together this year to make playoffs.
The team under LR got worse every year. Then under BV 3 years of making many adjustments and plenty of failures. But it seems to me we have our offense in place to go with a stout defense. Even improved our kicker. BV is 100% calling D, and hired a bona fide OC who called plays for our QB.
Michigan game will tell us a lot. Games that look tough now may not be as tough later.
We are on our way back up and I’m really looking forward to this season. Most pundits are going go be jumping on the bandwagon as the season progresses but I’m already on it before our first game.

If PABOW had had even an average defense, he probably would have won at least 1 NC. Not saying BV would have won the NC last year, but if he had at least an average offense, OU probably beats SC, Jr., Mizzou, Navy, and takes at least 2/4 against Tenn, Tex, Miss, and LSU.
Gotta think that Arbuckle and Mateer will give us a better than average offense.

Exactly. Our record is our record but too many people only look at our record and not the underlining reasons and how so many games could have flipped differently with just one or two plays. Meaning we were not as bad as our record showed, and with competent offense would have been a potential playoff team.
Having offense will make D even better. Keeps them fresher but also motivated. Last year they knew their only hope was defense. This year if our offense can spot us leads the defense will play more aggressive and can put more pressure on opposing offense by gambling a bit more knowing offense is complimentary.

Bring up something that I've seen nobody talking about the improvement on special teams last year it was way better over years past.

Every season comes with sky high hopes and sometimes (like 2023) great things happen.
If Oklahoma can win with this team versus this schedule these Sooners will go down in history as one of OUr all time best.
