Imagine a future where the old ways are gone, the old order demolished.
Perhaps the bombs will go off, or perhaps a plague slaughters billions.

Regardless, the bulk of humanity has fallen beneath the indiscriminate scythe of the reaper, and those that are left when the dust settles and the fires burn to ash must begin anew.

So, in the absence of the pretty veneer of civilization that peels away like layers of paint to reveal the raw wood beneath, what shall fill the void?
The laws of man become nothing, and only the laws of the jungle remain. Power, strength of arms, cunning, these are what matters.
The man that cleaves your head in two won't care about your credit score, your mortgage, your bank account.
All will be equalized, men shall be truly free again.
Yet men do not remain equal for long...

So will kings rise again, men who can rally the survivors around their banner, for good or for no.
And with them rise those that swear fealty, accepting the king's peace in exchange for the king's laws.
Is the nature of man to make chiefs of their champions, and from there begin the long march towards failed experiments in government?

If the reset button is hit, will wel follow the same path?

Your thoughts?

Good question, but let's play the game that we can see the future. Gaze into the crystal ball of possibility and let what could be fill your mind...

Of course. The future is the past, as it has always been.

It is a lot like an oligarchy when you think about it.

Get a drink, and dive in.

Imagine neo-knights clad in scavenged armor. What guns can be had brandished like precious cargo, and ammunition even more dear.

Axes and swords and melee weapons return, and death their coin.

The gated communities become the walled strongholds anew.
Fire and sword is the new law of the land.

We hide behind a facade of democracy and faux currency.
And laws, those pesky laws that keep men from reclaiming what would be theirs.

That, and the media machine that rules the thoughts of the masses.

Well, imagine you aren't. Imagine your consciousness has been passed down through a long line of sons and you, with your knowledge, stand in the shoes of a survivor.

What do you do? What do you think you'll see?

You fight until your last breath. Fight to survive I mean. At this point, society as we know it has turned on itself. Mass media can not pump our brains full of lies. We know. And all that's important is maintaining order in your own world.

Scary thought.
