no the Baby Boomers were the entitled assholes. This generation is just struggling their asses off to do whatever they can to make a buck and pay your old arse Social Security and Disability checks. We don't have time for much thanks to that lazy war losing waste of space.

Kidding. Sort of. The last sentence at least.

Still stupid. Driven people will be driven. People still make mistakes and learn from them. You can't tell me people living at home now after graduating is worse than hippie communes and shite. It is just a different form. The economy is different. I mean I got an engineering degree. I do not vote democrat, nor will I ever. There are still young, driven, entrepreneurs all around us. One of my best friends never went to college, joined the Air Force as a fire fighter, came down to college station and partied like a maniac, and didn't go to school, and now owns and operates a multi-million dollar SEO company. He is 24. I do know some people that fricked up, did too many drugs, were lazy and entitled, and have a terrible attitude and mindset towards life. Those people have always been around. Their parents are the same way. Let me ask you this, are your kids going to be entitled? I doubt it.

Big big difference.

In my day the hippies were, BY FAR, the minority. Now, did they get a disproportionate about of coverage by the press and have they received a disproportionate amount of favorable revisionist history coverage by the media today ... yes. But hippies and peace-nics, (as we called them), the anti-Americans, anti-U.S., anti-military were smelly, nasty and pretty much useless and BY FAR the minority.

These days the real achievers are the minority and the entitlement crowd, the anti U.S., anti-military, anti-elders crowd is the majority among young people.

My generation, and the generation before mine and the one before theirs, we built the country to the richest, most powerful, in the world .... probably in the history of the world.

This current generation will tear it down in one generation. China will surpass us in everything before most of this current generation turns 40 so I am giving the twenty-something year olds roughly twenty years to completely ruin everything. And I'll be right, as usual. It's a shame really.

Most young people are in debt and w/out jobs due to the policy choices of the preceding generation, you idiot.

And this is the most creative generation in history. Not due to any sort of innate ability, but due to the opportunity afforded us by digital technology, the internet, etc.

But communists, socialists, and the like weren't around? You created the welfare state. Find me the worst neighborhood in every city, and I'll show you someone from your generation that thought public housing projects would be a great idea.

What the hell are you talking about? I really wish people could see the youth in Texas. We kick arse and are going to run shite.

Meh. America isn't ever going to reach a point where we are going to get poorer. In the next 20 years, the US will be the richest most powerful country in the world. Texas, and the oil and gas I help produce in this great state. will provide cheap, clean, energy to help us do it. Your generation already spent the majority of our money, but we will be successful in spite of that.

Meh. You'll be wrong. Our generation is the first one with the internet, and a complete societal mastery of the information age. China is still a majority agrarian, and all of their intelligent ones come here and remain American. Everyone assumes them to be a dominant economic power, but if they didn't soften their currency towards the US, they would still be India-esque. And either way, the US is a service based economy. We are light years ahead of China and always will be.

Over-generalization and an obviously wrong one at that.

That is impressive stuff. How hard was it to do, with Europe being a smoldering disaster after the war and having a bounty of natural resources that would make everyone but the Russians jealous? America post war until just recently had significant advantages over the rest of the world. Population, resources, and not being commies.

I'll pat your generation on the back for being in the right place at the right time. Congratulations for being able to take credit for being born when you were!!!!!!

You think we have a demographics crunch with an aging population...think about the implications of the one child rule in China. Not to mention the struggles of trying to create a consumer base and transition away from an export based economy and somehow keep the new middle class from getting all bitchy about the lack of rights. Plus half their country is in abject poverty in the fields of rural China.

But yes, they're about to make us look like a second rate country.
