And your strength is the strength of ten for your heart is pure.

We get it.

You are a beefed up version of the sadly departed 24th Infantry division. That is not a bad thing, but it is a thing.

The Marines fill a very specific niche for the American military and that is why they get the funding that they do. If you want to wage a large scale ground war you want the Army. If you want a large scale air war you want the Air Force. If you want a major naval war you sigh sadly and take the Navy. The Marines are the Swiss Army knife.

They do everything not quite as well as the other services but they do it all fairly well.

They try to do too much TBH and it's why they have to rely on everyone else for fricking everything.

They need to go back to guarding ships at port and boarding ships on the sea, that is their role. Naval Infantry because the USN doesn't know how.

To be fair 50% of Navy basic training is damage control.

Probably more than that.

One thing Marines do better than Soldiers is write books:

A search of amazon for books with the key words "Army Sniper" returns 919 results.

A search of amazon for books with the key words "Marine Sniper" returns 672 results.

There are currently ~182,000 Marines on active duty. Marines write books at a rate of roughly 1 for every 270 Marines.

There are currently ~476,000 Soldiers on active duty. Soldiers write books at a rate of roughly 1 for every 518 Soldiers.

Marines are almost twice as likely to write books about their service.

How do you know if someone was in the Marine Corps?

Don't worry they'll tell you.
