quote:
First, excessive alcohol consumption is proven over and over to cause health problems. That's not even debatable. For one to get drunk, one must drink excessively.
The occasional night of getting drunk doesn't cause any more "health problems" then eating too much sugar, consuming too much caffeine, etc. You're making the blanket assumption that I drink to get drunk every night.
quote:
You believe, apparently, that you must become someone else in order to have improved relationships with others and to become someone else, the person you're not when you're sober, you must drink until drunkenness. And you don't see a problem with that, assuming that's the reason you get drunk.
Where did I say I have to become someone else to improve relationships? I'm still myself when I'm drunk. You made the comment that I was harming relationships while drunk. Even going so far as to say I'm throwing away my dignity. I provide evidence to the contrary. And as a responsible adult who can legally consume as much alcohol as I want as long as I'm not a public disruption and/or drive home while under the influence you're right, I don't see any problem with it whatsoever.
quote:
I'm not sure if you are married and have children, but would you encourage your children to also drink to the point of drunkenness? Do you think they would need that in order to enjoy themselves with others?
If I had children I would encourage my children to live life, have a good time, but be responsible. I've seen younger family members drunk but they weren't driving, weren't to the point of blacking out, and acted rather responsibly.
Do I think they need it to do those things? No and never once did I say that. You once again make the blanket assumption that everytime I'm with family or friends that I have to get drunk. Wrong again (shocker I know). And I don't believe my children will either. But if they enjoy the effects of being drunk then I see no harm if they're acting responsibly.
Sorry that you weren't mature enough to handle your liquor.

For the record, I know all about different kinds of intelligence considering what I'm involved in. I don't need to you tell me anything about why IQ tests are mostly irrelevant. They do have a tendency to show you what you're dealing with.

They need to readjust the definition of intelligent if you are considered for that description.

You guys are a fricking trip
. I'm actually 12 and just trolling you for loloppllzzz. Who gives a shite, douchebags? It's a message board.
Anyways, to the OP, people have a predisposition to their taste in alcohol. That's sort of what I was saying by bringing up the monkeys. The numbers of drinkers and non drinkers in their subgroup matched our population's. It's brain chemistry, as HempHead said.
