Now it is a chemical weapons depot? Fox told me it was an airfield.its concerning because theyre one of maybe two militaries that could possibly go toe to toe with us.

ok, that makes no sense.
i oppose countries using chemical weapons in warfare.

Good for you. Welcome to the civilized world

then why do you get all worked up about strikes on this airfield.

Holy shite man. Because I don't think its a good idea to provoke Russia. If no Russian troops end up dead, hey, good job. But if they did, you can restassured it wont go unnoticed by Putin

ok you a Russia brown noser for sure.
i am sympathetic to arguments that we should stay out of Syria b/c it is not a national security interest for the USA. but not to the argument we shouldn't b/c Russia won't like it. that seems like coward foreign policy to me. russia not king of the world.

Well it isnt in our national security interests. That is first and foremost (see we can agree on something
). As far as cowardly foreign policy , its called diplomacy.
Say there was a rebel uprising in Saudi Arabia. We send our jets and bombers over there since we are allies and wanna help em out. Then say China started backing the rebels with weapons and support for years. Then all of a sudden they started firing cruise missles at us. You wouldn't consider that an unnecessary escalation?

i don't think any action in Syria can be rationally viewed as an act of war with Russia.

you are suggesting that we not do something simply b/c Russia won't like it. i don't think that is a rational foreign policy approach.

What? You realize thats how so many nations were sucked into ww1 right? Countries have treaties that say if you are atacked, we got your back.

ok well your paranoia doesn't mean Russia about to declare war on US. let's cross that bridge when we get there.

You just said we have no interests in syria.

i didn't say that.
i said i'm sympathetic to the argument.
preventing the use of chemical weapons in warfare is a worthy goal for the US. that doesn't mean we always want to be the one to do a strike as Trump did in SYria.

You know we called Russia and told them we were doing it and coordinated to not anywhere Russian troops were stationed, right?
Probably not.
