Most of these rankings have a preconceived destination, they just have to figure out the stats they need to use to get there.
Yes I am sure this group of liberal DC based journalists conspired to name one of the most conservative, rural, and religious states in the country the best place to live. Utah is as close to a theocracy as you can find in America.
What predetermined agenda could they possibly be pushing that would lead to Utah at #1 but Louisiana at 50?
It’s basically a ranking of whether the people are healthy, have access to great education, healthcare, jobs, outdoor recreation and beautiful scenery. Is it safe and clean? Utah has built a society which prioritizes all of the above while Louisiana still can’t figure out what it wants to be other than just surviving.

The criteria for ranking could literally be anything

Well shite, Louisiana again.
That "World According To Briggs" youtuber guy hates the hell out of us also. Every time he does a "worst state" ranking he usually has us at the bottom.

How are these ranked? No one likes Iowa. Texas should be top 10. fricking California frickturds moving here then bitching. Go away. Leave Texas alone. Take your littering and your soft ways somewhere else.

It is a great state for the outdoors though. Some of the national parks are getting a little too popular and overcrowded. But they’re still great. And the state parks and national forests are awesome as well. It’s worth spending a week in southern Utah at least once. People come from all over the world to see it.

No big deal. We rank 50th in most things but we do rank #1 in passing a good time.

Nebraska is in a full scale economic meltdown last I heard. Plus large amounts of the state suck diseased moose wang.
I won't argue with the ranking for Arkansas. A lot of the state is in bad shape. NW Arkansas is like its own mini-state.

Ever consider the source of your information?
If I were y’all I’d look at stats like infant mortality and the like. Or just be numbskull hicks.

Poorly.
Some indicators they use are just flawed from the start. For example, measurements for things like education, healthcare and other social things are often based solely on the size and amount of government programs they have dedicated to those things. Personally, I would rank them best for having the least amount.
Economic indicators are often worse. Cost of living differences don't show up in GDP type stats, making states seem poor, when it's actually the stats that have the larger GDPs that have the highest amount of people and spending on these things. Because the cost of living is so high. If you wanted to move to California, you'll need to make 2-3 times more money than you do not just to maintain your current lifestyle(assuming you live in a southern state, not NY etc). I know because I've done it.
Then they'll base things like beauty and what not on state parks(and spending of course), lack of population density etc. Because all states, even the ones that are mostly not great have places of great scenery. Arizona is largely not great for example. But there are some cool mountains, and then there is the Grand Canyon. And unless you get some mountains in the distance background, all our views out the windows are likely just someone else's house. Otherwise you live in the country or have a place worth millions.

My favorite of these remain one of those college rankings that used metrics (seriously) like brightness of the lighting in the parking lots and number of police call boxes so that students in attendance are less likely to be raped.
When you're scoring and weighting garbage like that right beside the academic rankings of an institute of tertiary education, you've lost any confidence I may have had in your "list."

That lacks critical thought. Way to rep us from the South right.

Must be why the red states like Florida and Nebraska are in the top 10
