Never understood why UAH started the college hockey program considering logistics of opponents.
UAH should invest more in basketball and baseball programs and move to D1.

UAH is a relatively new University started in 1969 but has roots before then as an extension of Alabama(still essienatially is).

So when the club hockey started rocking in the 70's it was like they could win in something unique compared to anyone else. I think that's the big reason they've kept the hockey train going so long is that it makes them unique and I can't blame them.

I will repeat what I said earlier that if they were winning this wouldn't be an issue. But they aren't. And I agree with everyone on here that if they continue their trajectory, they'll be through in a few years. But if they start winning again, everyone loves winning and someone will take them.

They shouldn’t move to D1. They don’t have the following or the resources necessary to compete at that level.

Why can’t a program just be content where they are?

I believe they were in Div II but then Div II did away with hockey so they either had to move to DI or DIII

When they went D2 in 86 the NCAA had already done away with any sponsorship for D2 hockey, they would however bring it back from 93-99.

D3 was never on the table for them because that has to be regionally focused.

D1 independent was the only option.

Now they're stuck in a leftovers conference at the D1 level after some much needed realignment and rebranding of conferences.

The problem here is UAH is just not the type of school to have D1 hockey, it makes no sense at all.

I would assume UAH pulls a tone of northern students related to programs available and NASA.

I’m just saying you’re trying to sound like you have in depth knowledge about UAH and their hockey program and you don’t even know what city they’re in

And I'm saying you're being a tool for trying to discredit someone who clearly knows what he's talking about based on a clear late-night mistake that is largely inconsequential to anything else said.

Birmingham has top-of-mind presence for me when I think of cities in Alabama.

Honest mistake, double-bro.

You don't know shite about UAH if you say there has never been rough play in college hockey. I personally witnessed Bill Roberts getting mail addressed to him in the penalty box.
Saw the Chargers beat Vanderbilt one night 21-0 when the damndest fight broke out that I've ever seen.
The game was called early in the third period. Good times at Von Braun.

You don't know what you're even talking about if you're referring to a game against Vanderbilt.. which would have been at the club level, not NCAA.

Club hockey was, and always will be a complete circus-joke, regardless of the rulesets.

College hockey has never allowed fighting. It had an open-play style with no two-line pass, dating back decades before the NHL made the same rule change.

Don't try to talk to me on this subject. It won't go well for you.

If you could read, I was referring to club level hockey. Much more entertaining than division hockey.

Don't be so sure of yourself hotshot when it comes to anything Huntsville related. I've got grandkids older than you.

...only on the internet :shakes head:

No idea what's even being 'argued' here. Seems like you're super hard-on for Hunstville and don't like being told what's up on a matter that involves something in your personal space.

Club hockey in the 70s, in Alabama of all places, must have been an absolute shite-show of epic proportions.

I have no doubt the clueless people playing in those games would do stupid shite that people like yourself found entertaining.

In any case, NCAA college hockey has always been a more skill focused and open style of play as opposed to major junior and pro hockey, which both allow fighting and both relatively recently took out the two-line pass to open the game.

And without a doubt UAH going D1 was a terrible idea, and it's likely to come to an end sooner than later.

You should stay hidden, tiger. You fancy yourself. That's good, but you champion today's game p!ayed as somehow more of a legitimate type and seem to believe that what was played then was some sort of backwards and unrefined game. You're wrong.

I saw the VBC packed for national club hockey championships. Beating the likes of Notre Dame,Michigan, as well as destroying the likes of lesser thans like Tennessee and Vandy was great and spirited entertainment not lost on thousands of people in attendance.

You weren't there so you can't judge. I don't post much, so don't think I have any axe to grind with you. I am a fan of good sport regardless of the level and have witnessed it.
Here's hoping UAH not only survives, but finds their niche for the future.

Hopefully you'll not be quite so condescending in future discussions. Love to buy you a beer if you are old enough.

You're way off if you think I'm saying the game used to be backwards and unrefined.

I'm saying the level of hockey that you watched was so absolutely horrible it's the type of environment that would result in a circus - (hate this word) but it was a gong-show.

This started with you saying college hockey was more entertaining when there was fighting and rougher play.

I'm saying what you were watching wasn't college hockey. It's was like a beer league with unofficial affiliation to the universities they represent.

There's so many alternatives for top players to NCAA college hockey, which is so different than football. Guys play major junior, or jr a, or already pro at 18-19 when they'd be in college.

By the time you'd fill out rosters for club hockey teams in the 1980s you're talking about kids that weren't even decent high school players in most cases. That's certainly still the case today with a some exceptions of half decent players.

I think you're probably carrying a bit of old-man syndrome on this one and it's influencing how you're processing what I'm saying, on top of the fact you don't understand hockey or the dynamics of the levels.

You, and the other people enjoying cheap beer, enjoyed those games because you didn't know any better.

It's so foreign to you you were just in awe of how different it was and like seeing those idiots run around at each other.

So you're not old enough for the beer but are a psychologist and hockey expert...
I don't have any syndrome but I do have a bullshite detector.

Go to bed sport. Today is Saturday. All your favorite shows come on in a few hours.

Actually, am a hockey expert and hold a psychology degree.

So, laughing.

But yeah, you were watching a beer league with unofficial affiliation to the schools on the jerseys.

I know quite a few hockey experts and I believe you are one.
