Have any of you had surgery for it?
Tendons connect the bones to muscles, allowing them to move. The tendons are protected by a covering called a sheath. When the tendon sheath becomes inflamed, it can make the gliding of the tendon within the sheath irregular, too tight, or incongruent, may sometimes result in trigger finger.
Got my hand caught between a cows head and the head gate on my squeeze chute. Index finger took the main hit 10 stitches but it's my middle finger that catches. Had it shot with cortisone and it helped for a while but think its time to knife on it
Got a friend that travels giving safety presentations that has a picture of my index finger and she "NP" uses it to talk about safety and work injuries.
People have told me they about passed out when they saw my injury.

Damn brother, hope you're alright (sounds like it).
Which hand? Dominate?
Get in touch with a good occupational therapist if ya can
Or just punch the next pussy who gives you any lip
Either works

My right hands dominate but the injury is on my left. Have an appointment next Friday to get it looked at by a orthopedic surgeon.
I believe he can surgically correct it in his office.
I'm just hoping the recovery isn't more than a couple weeks.

My father had this done a while ago
I'll never forget this moment, so I'll pass it along to you. If the ketchup bottle is almost empty, don't hit the bottom of it with your wrist out of habit
He only made that mistake once
I can pass along any questions if you wish

Hope he recovered OK
I was just wondering about how long I can expect to be ranching one handed.
I'm hoping 2 maybe 3 weeks and then I can get back to normal activities. I'll still listen to the orders I have learned that lesson from the past.

It took me longer than I care to admit to realize this might not be a euphemism

This was the finger that took the brunt of the hit. My middle finger barely had a scratch and it's the one thats giving me the most trouble.

Ouch
I've had one of my fingers nearly cut off, so I know that shite hurts.

My daughter "NP" is a flight nurse. I texted that picture to her and asked her what I should use to clean it up with and should I use electrical tape or super glue. She told me to go to the emergency room.
It hurt like hell for 10 minutes and then I could tell I was going into shock my vision started blacking out. Dad asked me what I wanted to do. I told him I need to start moving let's finish working cattle. We worked another 40 minutes and finished before I had someone take me to the ER.
It was still bleeding a little so I figured that was keeping the wound clean.

Dang, that looks like it hurt bad. Split you wide open. I hope that cow tasted good
Seriously, not had an injury that bad like that, but I hope you can get it fixed with minimal issues recovering. Best of luck.

Thanks

I kept that cut on my finger covered with vaseline the whole time I had the stitches in it and a little while afterwords and now you can barely see a scar. I figured my finger would always look gnarly from a big nasty scar so I'm glad I used the vaseline.

When I was a child, I got my index finger shut in a metal door. Peeled the skin like a banana. Jacked up the end of my finger and nail forever.

I had a buddy once who lost a finger from it getting caught in a rope on a ranch in Wyoming

When it comes to fingers and hands cut I always cringe. Seems like when I was roughnecking I always had 2 black fingernails.
