Suo Gan is a Welsh lullaby, here heard by the elite British school at the start of the war in Hong Kong between Japan and China.
What makes the the film great (besides sound and visuals) is the non traditional viewpoint of a young British boy in the Pacific Theatre in WW II. Not sure it did well in the box office for Spielberg, probably due to this point of view in story telling, but remarkably strong movie because of this point of view.

If you saw Cannery Row around 1980, good swing scene in there with Nolte and Winger. If you read the book "Forrest Gump" original first print edition, the guy with Nolte in this pic is one who should have been Gump, not Tom Hanks.
