Storm turtles or NOAA one of the two.
Probably turtles though.

Moisture would enhance instability correct? I know the temp of the rising air relative to that around it is (very basically) the measure. Water vapor holds much more energy than dry air, so rising damp air has more energy to release and thus more instable.

That's just to help break the lower levels/remove the cap, or am I misunderstanding? Once it gets to the cooler air aloft, shouldn't the buoyancy of the warmer air cause the "lift".
P.S. That Brookhaven area cell looks like it might start to put off a hook. That might be our first tornado of the day.

Pretty much ALL of East, TN plus parts of SW VA and NC are under a flood watch/warning until Wednesday.

The cell NW of us looks nasty already. I'm worried about what it will look like when it splits McComb and Hattiesburg.

Those are not good signs, but what the atmosphere is doing in the mid and upper levels matters to. The sunniness will raise the temperature at the surface and since temperature difference is how instability is calculated...it's generally not a good sign on days with good other conditions for severe storms.
I don't want to scare you, but I am concerned for your area later tonight. I'm not a meteorologist, so don't take anything I say to mean anything without checking with the NWS out of Knoxville. They will have the best information. Don't be freaked out friend...just be smart and aware.

A lifting mechanism such as a cold front, or wind shear

Here's the deal.. the official word on tornado risks:
if youre in that red area, look out
if youre in the black hatched area.. look out even more

Thanks for the info. and we'll definitely take precautions for tonight. I just stepped outside and there's a weird sound not a tornado or anything but there's definitely a lot of air movement even though the wind isn't that high. The ridge enhances sounds and echos them upward and this sounds sorta like when plane flies super high above you and you can just hear it but its constant.
The wind isn't very strong but it's like the air is definitely alive today - I don't know how better to describe it.
