"Class" is a nice word but it's a thin veil for race, "Upper Middle Class" and "Upper Class" are dog-whistles for "White" and everybody knows it even if those labels aren't accurate for all white people. When the DNC and liberals talk about empowering disenfranchised poor people from the "lower class" they damned sure aren't talking about poor white people.

So you've built up this strawman in racial terms to play in to the liberal canard of the racist, usually Southern, Trump voter winning him the election. That isn't who put him in office. It wasn't racism and it wasn't the Great Recession - that's what won Obama the election. It was frustrated Midwesterners who Trump won because he went places candidates don't go...the man was in Eau Claire Wisconsin on November 1st.



Look at the states that flipped; Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania - even Minnesota was close. The Rustbelt Revolt was Brexit 2.0, working class whites from the industrial and agricultural sectors abandoning their traditional liberal affiliations after 50+ years of neglect by their old party. They didn't do that because of the Great Recession, they did that because they've been squeezed by both parties for the last half century through outsourcing in the guise of free-trade, and immigration. The switch that finally flipped was liberal identity politics hitting a critical mass on the Democratic side and a Republican candidate speaking plain truths and hearing their plight.

Simplifying things by saying that they're blaming their problems on "Mexicans and China" is bullshite but there's an underlying truth to it. Immigration of unskilled and semi-skilled labor drives the wages of that same domestic labor pool down. Free-trade or relaxed tariffs with foreign competitors in the developing world drives industrial jobs overseas. Those things are killing the Midwest and voters there aren't wrong for voting their interests.

The Russians didn't hack the DNC's servers and remove Wisconsin and Michigan from the GPS database in the sky thus preventing Hillary from visiting them and voters there generally aren't racist. The Media and DNC have completely missed the mark and failed miserably in their autopsy of the 2016 election but I'm cool with it because sticking to those points will hurt them in 2020.
