Texas is the greatest state in the Union. Was it's own country for 9 years. Is the only state to enter into the US by treaty instead of annexation. That is why Texans can proudly fly their Texas flag at the same height as the US flag. 
Since where on the topic and it seems like you would like to hear more about the Great State of Texas, here are a few facts.
The first words spoken on the moon were..."Houston"
The King Ranch is larger than the state of Rhode Island.
Texas has more Whitetail deer than any other state.
Dr. Pepper was invented in Texas.
The first Rodeo was held in Pecos, Texas.
Texas boasts the world's largest rose garden.
Texas has more farm land than any other state.
Texas has the first domed stadium in the world.
Texas boasts the worlds largest parking lot.
If Texas were it's own country (maybe one day), it would be the 7th largest producer of Greenhouse gases. Take that, AOC.
Approximately 90% of the world's helium is located in Amarillo, TX.
Texas uses its own power grid, separate from the rest of the US.
We have 85 MPH highways, the fastest in the US.
Texas is larger than every European country.

Mississippi and Alabama both have panhandles, but they should be called cleaver handles.

As far as panhandles go, I'll take the Texas panhandle over the Oklahoma panhandle any day.
They're similar, but Oklahoma's manages to be the most desolate stretch of land east of the Rocky Mountains. Maybe in the whole country.
