I love the St. Pete area and have spent a lot of time down there. As others have said, you'd probably be better off in the Bay area instead of in Tampa itself.

Like Ellenton, Bradenton, St.Pete. Cost of living is lower, still have access to all the cool stuff without the crazy traffic.

Unless you work downtown.

South Tampa is great if you work down town or travel for work a lot.

I love St. Pete but you aren't escaping any traffic by living there unless you work 3 miles from your office.

Thanks for that tidbit, how's the area around USF?

Tampa is one of the spots on my list of potential settling down spots.

and credit card theft... i had two credit cards numbers stolen while living down there... people started buying big screens in Philly. I haven't been skimmed before or since living in tampa.

I'd rather live in Sarasota.

I lived in Odessa, 15 miles NW of Tampa up the Veterans Expressway, and I loved it. Lots of great restaurants and far enough outside of Tampa to get away from the hectic rush, but still close enought to get downtown in 20 minutes.
