1) I'm suspicious of these low numbers

2) Not surprising, The Southern States have a low reported use.

LINK

quote:

Nationally about 7 percent of Americans over age 12 have used marijuana in the past month. Western states tend to have the highest rate of usage, at 9 percent, followed by the Northeast. The South has the lowest overall rate at 5.83 percent.

quote:

But usage rates drop off considerably for people age 26 and older: Only 5 percent of Americans in that age group smoke marijuana regularly. Alaska's 26-and-over crowd is the most likely to regularly use marijuana, at 11.18 percent. To put it another way, Alaska's adults are more likely to use marijuana than Utah's college-age crowd.

This is bullshite.

Everyone I know in Cali smokes.

Hell, my dad has a card.

Sad that it's still a real crime in the south.

While I do not partake with any regularity, I have no quarrel with those that do. I'll vote yes on 2.

Every smoker I know thinks everyone smokes.

I don't smoke/don't have a problem with it. But about 5% of my friends smoke regularly.

Same here

When I lived in the Mat-Su, don't think I knew a person who didn't use it. I'd guess 60% of the people I know in JNU smoke.

Lol I love Colorado!!!!! So happy we legalized it. I don't get why the south is so against it? It brings positivity, and not to mention a brand new industry! A key issue in the presidential debate was to "create more jobs".... It doesn't take a genius to figure it out... Legalizing MJ would supply more jobs than the alcohol industry.

This.

However, I don't smoke, and everyone I know that doesn't get tested regularly does.

Marijuana laws are a joke, and I won't be in a position to take another bong hit for 25 years or so.

I'll always be tested, until the day I retire. I'll also always support legalization, even though the pot subculture annoys the frick out of me.

I know people who moved there just for the weed.

One of my favorite places. Second to Haines, which is more scenic.

They don't call it the Bible "Belt" for nothing. They don't sell beer on Sundays.

yea they do, they changed the law.. my friend and I bought alcohol this past sunday. I found it incredible that was actually a law before. I also found out its a bunch of Dumbasses who run the city of Oxford.

change is slow, I suppose. Some of the laws down there are pretty archaic. I reckon Alabama and Mississippi will be the last States in the Union to legalize weed in the year 2144.

We had 5 non rainy days in July, it's been cool and wet for most of the summer. Some great rainbows and sunsets though, took this sunset last night from the deck

Last summer was one of the most sunny, ever. Guess we're paying for it this year.

. Maybe it's a county thing.

Probably so. I just looked up a wet/dry map for Alabama and there are quite a few counties that don't have Sunday sales. Hell, there's one county that's completely dry (Clay).

Must be tough to live in Kentucky, though.
