Sobering events during big ballgames...

Was on the edge of my seat tonight during the shite-show of that Bama/Mich game, when I get a text from my best friend saying his mother passed yesterday. She was a great friend and second/third/fourth mama to me growing up in our friend group.
Same thing happened during the 2020 Bama vs OSU NC game... one of my best friends freakishly passed away out of nowhere (bacterial infection that hit his brain in 28 hours, then done), before kickoff.
Heart hurts tonight. No, not because of the Bama loss. That shite doesn't matter right now.
Hold your close ones tight in this new year
shite sucks :(

It is an interesting topic though... has anyone been in a situation that took a complete 180, leaving you with a new perspective on life (when it comes to death), during a sporting event?

Doesn’t take much to happen for me to realize how stupid I am for caring about sports beyond just a little.
Sadly I never learn.
