You could always grab an apartment with my brother?
He is no officially going to Memphis Law and will be living at our fathers until he can find a place in Memphis.

What about Mud Island?
Everyone I know that lives there really enjoys it (they prefer the tag "Harbor Town," though).
Close to downtown and some fun stuff, yet safe. It's like a miniature community with its own grocery store/sandwich shop and several restaurants--most notably, Paulette's. A lot of UT Med/grad students and other young professional types.

Also a lot of hot moms.
Drove down there a few weeks ago to get lunch with the family. The amount of milfs walking around down there is insane.

I'm pretty young and would enjoy some night life. Mid town good for that?
It's definitely on the rise. Cooper-Young area, though it sometimes draws a (how should I say it?) cosmopolitan crowd, offers a bunch of options, both food and drink.
If Overton Square continues to develop, it'll turn into a fun area as well.
Always a lot going on in Mid-Town, though I'd feel a bit safer in Collierville/G'Town. It's a trade-off.

Sorry for the delay I've been on a flight.
Rebelgator that's the shite I'm looking for.

Do it. They're nice. They also rarely come available.

I still stand by Riverset apartments in Harbor Town. You'd really like the little community Harbor Town offers.

Yeah... Editing would be good. Not like you can get in without a key card or use an elevator w/o your specific key though. Security is freaking awesome

A bunch of idiot cowards in this thread.
Collierville and Germantown are cool if you've lost all sense of self and any desire to do interesting things or have fun.

Grew up in Collierville, right next to the border of Germantown, so if you need any info on that area I can help as well.
I am going to have to make basically the same decision as you pretty soon.
If you find the right place to live the city can really grow on you. I love Memphis

It's really not. I'll take the night life of Memphis over safety of the suburbs any day. If you're raising a family, sure the suburbs are ok, but with the revamping of the school systems, crime continually pushing further East, and the higher state taxes it's really not worth it anymore.
