A team of physicists has uncovered a new state of matter—a breakthrough that offers promise for increasing storage capabilities in electronic devices and enhancing quantum computing.

"Our research has succeeded in revealing experimental evidence for a new state of matter—topological superconductivity," says Javad Shabani, an assistant professor of physics at New York University. "This new topological state can be manipulated in ways that could both speed calculation in quantum computing and boost storage."

""The new discovery of topological superconductivity in a two-dimensional platform paves the way for building scalable topological qubits to not only store quantum information, but also to manipulate the quantum states that are free of error," observes Shaban".

The article talks about marjorana fermions. The article is interesting but I admit that I have no idea what kind of particle that is. Classical physics is hard enough to understand without talking about quantum particles being their own antiparticle. Weird stuff.

While the article and discovery are fascinating... I admit... marjorana fermions sounds like an incredibly potent batch of weed.

I thought nobody believed in science.

They don't believe in climate change.

Oh no. By now everyone believes in it.

It is wee little fairies that are causing it.

Everyone knows it is happening, where you see the bloody trench fighting now is what do we do to counter it. The Republicans are riding high now but they know when the Democrats take power the gas/oil interests are going to get gutted like a trout.

Some may see this as a good thing. Some may see it as a bad thing. Some may see this as "what the fricking frick people? I don't care what economic god you worship get this shite under control."

In the long run, as usual, the third group will get grumpy enough to get what they want passed.

I honestly dont care how it works. Just give me more storage and faster computing so I can kill a motherfricker in online gaming.

This is a lie.

The belief is that humans aren’t causing climate change. Are we still in an ice age? No. We’re there planes and cars then to warm up the Earth? No. Earth’s climate is constantly changing, whether humans are here or not. And according to NOAA the ocean hasn’t risen for a few years.

Not believing in the bullshite scams thought up using it as an excuse for them is not the same as not believing it.

When somebody proposes doing something to China over it I will believe it.

While the Earth has experienced a number of gradual changes and some sharp changes due to a cosmological event, the fact that humans--and cows are rapidly changing it, and it can be prevented...I'd rather err on the side of caution. Numbnuts.
