This is a recent phenomenon(in the last month or two)... the current version of the ESPN app on the Roku has issues w/ 1080p video becoming very choppy no matter how good the speed/signal.

Posted elsewhere on the web enough that it seems to be isolated solely on the Roku implementation of the ESPN app.
Commercials will have smooth video, but when the live feed resumes the choppiness continues.

Plays fine on Fire TV.
Plays fine on regular PC browsers.
All other apps on Roku seem fine in 1080p or 4k.

Anyone know of a resolution for this anytime soon?

ESPn app has awlays been crappy on my Roku. I just use the Chromecast instead.

Yep. Most things on Roku work well for me but I can't watch the ESPN app on there.

If it's only Roku that's new. Watch ESPN used to be choppy on every platform.

I've got a basic Roku device attached to my TV that does the same with ESPN. I have googled the hell out of it searching for answers with no success. I've tried restarting the roku, internet, uninstall/reinstall the app, etc and nothing works. I watch fox sports, nbc sports, and literally every other app with no issues.
