"pop" is the most Yankee of terms to describe a carbonated beverage

Nowhere in that does it say anything about reflecting the snow

Correct. They appear white because the hairs reflect the SUNLIGHT

Also true of just about anything grown in the ground. Just about everything that isn't carbon based emits very small amounts of radiation. Bedrock is radioactive to a degree.

I find it funny that no one has a problem accepting that polar bears are left handed but balk at what color thier fur is.

As Finley said, the point of my fun fact was really that polar bears weren't actually white, not so much what they reflect to appear so. But you are correct, I should have said it reflects the sun... and the light of the sun reflecting off the snow helps the illusion also.

And it has been nice to have a debate that didn't degenerate into frick you's and fat Momma jokes.

Oh, and a polar bears skin is black.

POLAR BEARS ARE GREEN DAMMIT.

Jaykay. But some in zoos are. Algae from the ponds in their enclosures turn them green.

Something like that, not very scientifical (it's a word now) I know.

If your Uncle Roger gets as drunk as mine, this is very possible...
