wrong board
Yet the main board is the one most infested with trolls from the other conferences. Main board is the correct place so fans of the 14 SEC schools can rebut when the trolls post there.

Now do the Big Ten numbers and show those who doubt the importance of research dollars why southern schools should compete for them. AAU schools, the 13 members of the Big Ten in particular, have a firm grip on federal research dollars. The billions of dollars they receive is obscene and it's unfair that southern schools are passed over much of the time.

Which is why I post stuff like this in the offseason and was surprised at the number of down votes.
Really wish Sankey would push the SECN in dead time to run maybe a 1/2 hour show per school on what each school is doing academically or on the research side of the school. Would be great exposure and not in competition for LIVE sports time. Would be better than Paul for 4 hours a day!

I'm sure the Big Ten presidents laugh at the prospect of having to compete with SEC schools for research dollars. UK's president has emphasized research and it's paying off. In particular, UK is regularly receiving big medical research grants since vastly expanding the medical center. Other SEC schools need to get aggressive in seeking research money.

What % of these 'research' dollars is for med schools? It seems like every school with a med school is exponentially higher. Auburn, LSU, MSU, etc. don't have a med school so that's worth at least $100 mil here if not $200-300 depending on how good the school is.
So I don't think it's necessarily fair to compare an entire institutions research dollars when UF has the med school for the state of Florida and the state of Alabama's med school is UAB and non-sec.
