Overtime

I'm relatively new at my position and I am eligible for overtime. My boss has made it clear in the past and reaffirmed this week (when her boss told her j should be working enough to get overtime consistently) that she didn't think I was efficient enough that I should be staying extra hours for overtime. She did say that if I was actually busy with productive tasks, sure, I should get a ton of it, but that she didn't think that I was there yet. I agree with her in that I say I shouldn't get overtime just because but that j should earn it.
Then comes the craziness that was today and I was swamped. Ended up going over my time limit but it was because I was needed and I was needed to be productive. So I filed for the overtime which I felt was the honest thing to do (honesty really is a policy). When. My boss reviewed it, I think she was kinda wary of of my overtime due to an odd comment. She did accept it though. I feel like if anything, I've been cutting myself short. But did I do wrong here?

Hold on to this job as hard as you can.

You're fine. Just keep yourself above reproach

I would feel that way but about 90% of what I did today I had never done before and I didn't exactly perform to my expectations. I made a lot of honest mistakes but I had to spend a fair amount t of time reviewing my work with management because they were asking me to do stuff I'd never seen before. Again, honest and they seemed accepting but I want to be above and beyond.

Work hard and show them you don't need anyone caring about the quality of your work for you. Hold yourself above their standard.
And, you're in the "thought of as a puss" danger zone with this woman so don't be afraid to stick up for yourself if you believe you can be utilized more and see an opportunity to take initiative. Just fricking do it.
Show her you TCB.
But for real, fricking stick up for yourself a little. Don't let yourself get known for what she seems set on knowing you as.
