Overall State Rankings - LOL

Oh, the horror of living on the coast. Its no Cullman I guess.

I don't live in Cullman but it seems to me like a pretty nice place. I realize some of the brethren don't care much for it.

I do like Baldwin Co in Alabama. Can't say that I'd want to live ON the beach but a few miles inland might be nice. Don't care for the sand but like the laid back lifestyle.

Mississippi scored the 6th best in “quality of life”. I refuse to believe that

Because there are no jobs, they don't have to work? Too many reason list is crap.

But bama, Arky, LA, and MS at the bottom of most lists is reality.

“More weight was accorded to some state measures than others, based on a survey of what matters most to people. Health care and education were weighted most heavily.“

Translation: the States gave out the most free shite were ranked higher.

Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi yes. Not Alabama these days. Maybe 10 years ago.

Alabama is a 30 something these days. It’s no coincidence that Toyota, Mazda, Mercedes, Honda and Hyundai all have decided to build cars in this state over LA or MS

New slogan:

"Alabama, no longer second worst."

WV, NM, LA, and, as always, MS.

Mississippi doesn't have New Orleans, that's the difference.

Texas is 38th in healthcare yet we have some of the best hospitals in the world including the #1 for cancer treatment.

Quality of healthcare in America is rarely the problem and I doubt that has anything to do with the ranking. The problem is the ridiculous cost of healthcare and the access to it. We idiotically run a for profit healthcare system where dollars come before patients. You can blame Nixon and his HMO Act of 1973 for that one.

I also have no clue why this is in this section.

Sorry, this demonstrates a serious lack of understanding about economics.

Quality, inexpensive, universal. For health care, pick any two you like. Even two is dang near impossible... but all three is a pipe dream. Despite some who believe otherwise, neither does all three characteristics exist in the same healthcare system ANYWHERE on this planet.
