Any other surprising comebacks and upsets in 2026 sports?

* Oklahoma Softball hit 187 Home Runs and scored 615 Runs during the 2026 season.

In the Super Regionals - OU Softball was shutout for the first time in 399 games. By a Mississippi State pitcher who pitched only 13 innings during the season.

* Cleveland Cavaliers were leading the New York Knicks by 22 points with approximately 8 minutes remaining in game 1 of the 2026 NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

Knicks went on an 18-1 run. Cavaliers lost the game by 11 points in overtime.

* World #1 ranked Jannik Sinner was leading 2-0 in Sets over Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the 2026 French Open. Sinner was leading 5-1 in the 3rd set.

Sinner then experienced severe fatigue, dizziness, cramping. Sinner lost 18 of the next 20 games. Lost the match in 5 sets to Cerundolo.

* World #1 ranked Aryna Sabalenka was leading #25 ranked Diana Shnaider in the 2026 French Open quarterfinals.

Sabalenka won the first set 6-3. She was winning the second set 4-1. She was 2 games away from winning the match.

Sabalenka lost 12 of the next 13 games. Lost the match in 3 sets to Shnaider.

* 2026 Kentucky Derby upset. Golden Tempo was a 50/1 longshot to win. Horse surged from the back of the pack to overtake the leaders. Jose Ortiz was the jockey.

2009 KY Derby. Calvin “Bo-Rail” Borel riding 50-1 Mine That Bird.

Calvin & Mine That Bird went on to win the Preakness. In the Belmont, edged out by just a nose short at the finish missing out on a Triple Crown sweep.

I made an absolute “$hit Ton” of money on that horse in the Derby. I hit the boxed trifecta.

ONLY reason I included Mine That Bird on my tickets was because Calvin was on the mount. (and also because the sloppy track was huge equalizing factor among the field.)

BTW…Mine That Bird ALSO came from behind. WAY further behind than the deficit Golden Tempo had to overcome to win.

2009…My All-Time favorite KY Derby!!!
