And might I add: I love having a good goalkeeper. Howard for President.

He is apparently a fellow Memphian. He isn't from here, but his wife is. They live here when he isn't off somewhere playing.

He said he enjoys the fact that he rarely gets recognized.

Glad to see soccer getting some love over here!

I wish y'all would come to the soccer board. 95% of of us regulars over there are great.

I'll have to join y'all in this thread tomorrow.

It's the WC. Not a huge soccer fan, but always gotta show some love to the worldwide tourney every 4 years

Maybe I will now that basketball has concluded That sport's blogs are where I spend most of my time when I'm not here.

Plus, I live right down the road from Sporting KC's home pitch. They're a decent squad last I checked

Dude! Sporting KC games are amazing. Get some budweiser seats. Free food and beer the entire game. Funnest sporting event I've been too

The only problem is that it's in kansas. Apparently SKC is actually based on Missouri, so feel free to spend money in the stadium and allow the tax dollars to support the team based on the tax district. However, please don't hang out in the bars afterwards or buy any gas or food on the kansas side on the way to or from the game.

Thank you.

Hence my reticence to attend up to this point I try to limit the number of times I cross the state line

I live in Mexico City and when they beat Cameroon they literally had images of it -everywhere-. I've seen the lone goal on the bus, in the subway, at the places I teach. I couldn't get away from it.

It's not even a third tier story in the United States (and this was a gigantic win for us).

Hopefully we get far to get some more people interested not only on this board but the country as a whole.

There's enough folks in the US to generate a strong interest, IMO.

Hopefully baseball fanship declines and hockey/soccer rises.

Basketball is the Beautiful Game 2.0, though

I plan to. Still gotta get to the Speedway this fall.

I'm pissed because I had tix to the spring race and had to give 'em up at the last minute, and of course Gordon happened to get his first win of the year that race

With my luck, in the fall, he'll blow up on lap 4

But anyways, SpKC games do look like a ton of fun

If the world cup was more often, which would be awesome, and MLS games where televised more the sport would really explode. Ive seen research saying that for most people under 25 soccer is their 2nd favorite sport (behind football). So its definately growing.

eta: Sporting stadium is right next to the speedway, there is a big arse bass pro shop also right in the area, and a pretty good bbq joint I believe(not sure if its in same area or not).

Yeah, Sporting KC has an amazing stadium and great atmosphere.

Plus, they are the defending MLS champs!

I'm a Galaxy Gal but with Feilhaber, Zusi, Besler, and Zizzo, they are my second favorite.

If any of you SKC fans haven't seen the Benny Feilhaber Show on YouTube, you HAVE to check it out. So hilarious.

I disagree. It's in the top few headlines in several of the big news outlets (CNN, Fox, ABC) and is easily the biggest sports story. The problem is we only care every four years

Hoping he gets the start against port. I got way to excited when he came in today and buddies looked at me like wtf... Then that Corner and he made a few more fans.

My wife is a Dynamo fan. Hometown and all that.

I'm not very loyal to anything other than San Antonio's minor league team, the Scorpions.

Is there anything else going on in sports at all?

Spurs beating up on the Heat?

Surely our major media outlets could at least give some love -- 2 days of front page, big picture news. Serious reporting and all that jazz.
