Why the Mexico hate?
Remember, I know NOTHING about WC soccer.
Is it just Mexico, in general? Or, is the Mexican team something hateable in and of itself?

Mexicans have some terrible manners regarding soccer -- and there were a few points where they did some unbelievably dirty play.
A few years ago when we beat them in the world cup, they stomped on Cobi Jones' ankles in stoppage time, trying to injure him purposely.
They also have the most classless fanbase in the entirety of the sporting world...except for Bama fans.

quote:I'll put it this way, I love going to road games for any sport. Azteca is one of the only places in the world that I will not go to. I would literally fear for my safety inside and outside the stadium. Their fans try to hurt our players and our fans, and their players try to hurt our players. Their fans and players are pieces of shite and deserve every bad thing that comes their way.
Why the Mexico hate?

What we have learned from Groups A and B:
Brazil is far from unbeatable. A question al penalty handed them the first game on a platter. Should at least get to the quarters however.
Mexico are for real...as much as it pains me to say. They played in a monsoon but dominated Camaroon in a 1-0 victory. Took the host's best shot and got a result. Then looked the obvious better side against a good if not all together Croatian side. They look confident and play a positive style. They will give Holland all they want and then some.
Croatia show the typical Balkan problem of talent that can't work together. Too bad too, I wanted more Luka Modric in my World Cuo.
Camaroon...not equipped for the big stage.
Holland look the favorites after getting 9 points from a very challenging group. Still with question marks at the back, their attack is the most potent I've seen this WC. They catch a tough draw in Mexico for the Round of 16, but the Orange are poised to make a deep run.
Chile and their unorthodox tactics also survive a challenging Group B and they do it with relative ease. It's wonderful to behold the power of positive attacking football. If you aren't rooting for them yet, you've made a grave mistake. They however have as large of a mental hurdle to get over as a talent one against Brazil in the Round of 16. The Chileans just can't seem to get the best of the Brazil over the past six years of Chile's footballing resurgence.
Spain: the death of a dynasty. Got old. Bad goaltending. Lacking teeth in the attack. They've been something special to behold since Euro 2008. Raise a glass to them and the changing of the gaurd.
Aussies got no points but played great and gritty against superior competition. They are the USA of the Southern Hemisphere. Mad respect.

Can't get here soon enough.
Got to come into the office to do some time sheets but I should be out the door by 8 am. Gots to have time to mentally prepare.

Why the Mexico hate?
Their fans tore down a statue of Diana after their win against Croatia. (
First is in Acapulco (I think), second is in Mexico City.
"After the Angel of Independence, this statue of Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt, is arguably the most well-known landmark in Mexico City."
Their own people are condemning it pretty badly.
"Pinche gente pendeja sin educación y cultura."
"fricking dickhead people without education and culture."
