No, neither team is really good. Mexico finished 4th in CONCACAF qualifying (our conference) and barely made the WC. Both teams need to win in order to have a prayer of advancing.

Mexico was the better team and they had a point about one of the offsides.
That being said, ESPN is obviously shutting it up to get more Mexican eyeballs.

I have never seen such a good team fricking suck as much as Mexico does. They had tons of opportunities and even with the offsides (it wasn't questionable with cameras, but on the field I can't fault the ref) they just can't execute. It's only a matter of time before they put one in, unless they continue to be incapable of finishing.

Weather definitely a factor. I can remember playing in those conditions and it gets in your head how the ball slides off your foot, or skips across the pitch, and the wet field effecting your footing. Both teams missed on some great opportunities.
