said it once and ill say it again. indiana would have a reealllyy good chance at beating miami if they had a legit superstar to go to.
heat win in 6 at the most
eta: i hope memphis wins for pure entertainment value. trolling spur fans on texags is way too much fun

I'm hoping against hope the Pacers play out of their minds and beat the Heat. Not out of any particular Heat hate (although I have plenty), but because if SA beats memphis, a Spurs/Pacers finals would be epic. It'd be only the 2nd time two former ABA teams met in the Finals (Spurs/Nets '03), and the storyline of Pop meeting the guy he called his "favorite player," in George Hill in the Finals after letting him go for Kawhi Leonard would be fun to follow.

eta: but on a serious note. i think its retarded how teams from the ABA werent allowed to keep their history. the pacers dont get any respect for what their franchise accomplished in that league. same goes for us in the NBL. we should have another championship but the NBA doesnt recognize it because we couldnt keep our history from that league.

For real
Really happy 3 of the 4 last teams standing are small market, ground and pound teams (traditionally). No offense to your lakers, or the other "glamour" franchises, but it's nice to see the little guys step up and steal the show.

Yeah, I think that's some bullshite
quote:this will sound evil but i love beating small town teams. i love keeping the perception that the lakers are the evil empire and look to dominate the lowly franchises in sacramento, phoenix, oakland, okc, etc

Same sentiment I have as a Cowboys fan, so I can identify
Gotta keep the serfs in line!

theres something more gratifying in knowing that you just beat a team in which its fanbase wanted it more than normal

Not gonna lie, I took great pleasure in the way SA broke the Warrior fans' spirits in their own house the other night
Winning on the road and shutting up haters is intoxicating in sports.

Cowboys, absolutely.
Spurs kind of evolved into villains over time, though. By the time 2005 rolled around we really weren't small market curiosities anymore, and then the haters began to really come out. The team I took the most pleasure in the Spurs' beating was the Nash/Amar'e Suns teams, especially the way their fans would froth at the mouth at the mere mention of silver and black. Denver got to be the same way
The irony now is, if SA does make it past Memphis and meets Miami in the Finals, I feel the Spurs would have a lot of sympathizers just because they want us to beat the Heat.
It'd be weird to go somewhat full circle like that, but gotta take care of the Grizz first--they might have something to say about that

and honestly. i despise the suns. nothing will ever make me forget tim thomas taking my heart out in 2006 or us getting raped in 2007. and their fans TO THIS DAY still go straight "cav fans when lebron returned to cleveland" on kobe. i hope we get them every year in the playoffs and sweep them every time and win every game by 40+ points. the kobe booing, that thug POS raja bell,...i hate the suns

See, that hate right there that you feel for the suns, is EXACTLY how Spurs fans feel about the Mavs (as you already probably know from your lady friend
I'm GLAD the mavs have fallen precipitously since winning it all in '06. And I hate that I'd rather have had them win it than Miami that year. Every time they come to AT&T I hope SA kicks their nasty tails all the way back up I-35 to dallas
I have hate issues

I'm only up because I'm at work and bored as frick and refuse to do any more actual work than I have to on a Sunday

the only franchise i wish more ill will on are those frickers from boston.

Sounds like a good time! Watching the playoffs from Europe is a bitch though. Had to get up at 2 and 3 AM to watch the '03 and '04 playoffs.
'03 was glorious
'04 was horrible :banhead:

I had to watch game 6 of the '03 WCF dubbed in German. Only reason it was on German TV was because Dirk was playing, I'm pretty sure.

Crazy thing is, those Spurs/Lakers series' from that year played out almost exactly the same way. Robert Horry had a GREAT look at a 3 pointer that would have won game 5 for LA in '03 and put y'all up 3-2 but it rattled out.
In hindsight it's freaking crazy that the most clutch shooter of all time missed, while the most improbable .4 second shot went in. Gotta love sports!

Did not know that. Sounds like fun (although I don't know shite about tennis). Want to learn to play, though.
That and hockey are two sports I want to pick up.
