thats my thing. for everything that kobe has gone through with the lakers, he deserves to go out a champion. he has been a laker longer than he hasnt and it would just be right for him to go out with #6

shits crazy. he was 17 going on 18 when drafted, now hes entering his 18th season. and its all been with one team, even though there have been moments like 2004 and 2007 when it didnt look that way

Yup, pretty unreal when you stop and think about it, especially the way the NBA has evolved free agency-wise since he came in.

I always have much respect for franchise players like Kobe, Duncan, Robinson, Nowitzki, etc. Not as easy as it looks

exactly. but its crazy how close he was to getting traded in 2007. chicago was told they had to wait until the trade deadline but they had a trade agreed upon based around lou deng and the mavs were involved in it to some degree that i cant really remember. crazy how different the NBA could have been the past 6 seasons if that trade happened instead of the gasol/kwame brown switch the lakers pulled

We're talking about a complete landscape change.

that was kobe circa 2004 except he was talking to the clippers. we solved it by blowing up the greatest core the NBA has seen since magics lakers and birds celtics. i fully believe that core had another 3 championships in them (shaq and kobe). sucked at the time but we bet on the right horse in kobe. wish they could have been best bros like timmy, manu, and tony

without a doubt. lakers go into full rebuild mode for the first time in our history and chicago wins at least one championship, probably 2

Y'all absolutely bet on the right horse.

SA is a different situation in a small market. Couldn't afford to blow up a core, so reloading on the fly became our M.O.

The thing that's funny that folks forget is our '03 title team was NEVER meant to win a title. Really was a patchwork team that was designed to be taken apart after The Admiral left. Didn't know what we had, so we were fortunate.

I could definitely see one.

that was how 08 started for us. we werent supposed to do shite, kobe was about to be traded, bynum was still an unproven youngin. but we started off hot, bynum goes down and everyone thinks we are through, and we trade for gasol which makes kobe want to stay. by far the most fun year ive had as a laker fan....until the finals

2003 was the first time parker started full time correct?

Odom was a FANTASTIC fit for y'all.

Yup, in only his second year. Also, Ginobili was a rookie. Safe to say that turned out well.

Steven Jackson wasn't "Cap'n Jack" yet

Kevin freaking Willis was "backing up" Tim Duncan

Steve Kerr saved our bacon a couple times.

Just a crazy, crazy year.

I remember like it was yesterday an analyst saying you couldn't expect Ginobili to average 11 ppg over the course of a series

2008 was the year he finally started to put it together. 2011 was his magnum opus. then i dont know what happened, he played the worst ball of his laker career in the playoffs. we needed him that dallas series. then the cp3 trade (obligatory frick you david stern ) really fricked him up in the head. so sad. he was my 3rd favorite behind kobe and pau

yea one could say that

still surprised by curry today. he had a kobe like quarter in the 3rd. kid is playing out of his mind

I am ashamed to admit that watching that fricking "Kloe (sp?) & Lamar" TV show with Mrs. Tbird made me like Odom a whole lot more. Seems like a decent guy I wish him well so long as it's not against SA.

If he shoots like that the rest of the postseason, GS is gonna be that much tougher to beat. Originally wanted them in round 2 but damn lol.

he should have been so much better though, LO. he was 6'10. had very long arms, could run the floor well, good ball handling, had range, was a beast on the glass, basically a perpetual double double type of guy. but he was always so inconsistent until 2011. really he should have been an all nba type of player. he had the skill set.

i was literally watching the game going "no way" and then he hit it and id just go "fuuuuuck" hahhaa

He really did. His range was what scared me the most, but he did all the little things well, too, when he was dialed in. He only reached a fraction of his potential.
