*Note, I realize most of my posts in this thread have been Sixers based. I'm sorry for that, I'll definitely converse you all about other teams/players, but around this time with the draft and everything, I'm thinking Sixers.*
Upon reading/watching/listening to different opinions and more of Embiid, I like the pick more now than I did when it was announced.
Coach Brown mentioned Noel at the 4 and Embiid at the 5 when he talked about the future lineup (also said Saric at the 3 and compared him to Hedo), though I could see that obviously not mattering. Noel may guard more 4s than Embiid, but ultimately they're just big men.
Brown also hinted that Noel's working hard to develop a mid range shot. I'm not so sure his mid range game will ever be anything special, but it's at least good to hear. Embiid does have that mid range game though, and will only get better with time. I know his health is a major concern, but IF he stays healthy, he can be a two-way force. Noel isn't likely to worry anyone offensively, but I do think he can be efficient at least. Plus, his defensive potential is what is so special about him. He isn't just a shot blocker, he gets steals too.
What has me excited about this tandem is their combination of length and athleticism. Both are long, but they're quick and can run for big men. That plays hand in hand with what we want to do. MCW can become a top tier perimeter defender, and then behind him he'll have the House of El (NoEL and JoEL, I call them the House of El because that is Superman's family name). That defend is nasty. We don't have the shooters on the perimeter that we need, but that's why this is a process. If we can get a 2 (and 3 because I like Saric more as a Sixth Man) who can shoot, I wouldn't be as worried about our offensive future. Plus, MCW at 6'6", Noel/Embiid together? We taking all your rebounds.
tl;dr: Because I know no one cares.
Sixers gonna go from bottom dweller to top of the East in a few years. As a fan, it's a tough pill to swallow. Most aren't swallowing that pill. I am, and I credit the dark days of Alabama football after Coach Stallings and before Coach Saban as my preparation for this.

According to ESPN, Carmelo has set up a meeting with the Lakers on Thursday.

He aint coming unless we get someone else
Posted on 6/29/14 at 3:15 pm to WestCoastAg
I don't even want him to show up to the meeting honestly

If the sixers could sign or trade for a superstar scorer, that would be a pretty good lineup.
But it pretty much all depends on the health of two big guys.

The Lakers should pursue Greg Monroe too.

What do you guys want to do with our cap space?
I'd really like to pull Lance Stephenson but Indiana would probably match any offer.

Y'all should steal Eric Bledsoe from PHX. He fits the mold of guys Kobe likes to play with.

I would like that. I wonder what kind of money he's wanting. I also like the Greg Monroe idea someone mentioned earlier, but not if he's wanting a max deal.
frick we really need a coach in place.

The one worry I would have about Monroe would be stunting Randle's development. I feel like the more time he gets playing against NBA length the better he will get. What happened in Golden State sort of worries me. Harrison Barnes had a good rookie season, great playoffs, but he fell off the map when they brought in Iggy to steal his playing time.

I see what you mean but isn't Monroe a center and Randle a PF?
Posted on 6/29/14 at 9:36 pm to UMRealist
He's played both. I guess you could play him at center just fine.
