that thread is actually cleaner than most debates on politics. Its got some decent discussion and view points in it.

Agreed. Compared to the out and out brawls I've seen on other (non-TD) message boards, that thread's extremely tame. Only reason why I bothered to stay in it, tbh.

Me too. Hell, I like arguing just for the sake of arguing half the time
I'm not necessarily trying to change the other person's mind, just figure out why they take a particular stance on a position. Usually use what I glean from a debate to reevaluate my position on an issue.Posted on 3/26/13 at 4:09 pm to BluegrassBelle

im the same way. ill argue just to do it without being mad at all. I like to hear the other side sometimes and use it to either change position or strengthen my original position.

I just don't understand why people feel the need to take someone voicing their opinion on a particular subject so personally. Unless they're outright attacking you (which I do my level best not to ever do, because then the discussion will always change for the worse), there's no need to become agitated.
Folks can't separate their emotions from the issues, though, and there's the rub.
