Perfect way to describe why you do not want steerable canopies for a MASTAC jump.

Skysharking.

MASTAC
Mass Tactical jump. More jumpers in the air than you could ever want to see. Lots of opportunities for mid-air entanglements (a very, very bad thing).

One of my ex's dads had to have a couple of his vertebrae fused together after he retired from the Marines due to chronic back pain from para jumping

I can see why. Everyone hits the ground like a falling sack of potatoes.

On average, a descent rate of 15-22 feet per second (several variables affect this).

My opinion, the best depiction of what it is like to be a paratrooper in the military.

All practical effects, no CGI.

Yikes; how is your back and knees? My mom spent several years as a Doc at the VA in Pittsburgh and she used to cringe when she talked about the physical state of ex-paratroopers.

Well, he's 42 and retired, so that should tell you.

Broke my right hip on a jump. Busted up right knee. I take care of myself but I will have problems as I get older. Get great care from the VA.

And I turn 60 this summer

Saw that one on Army WTF site. Knuckle head was doing an A/NT jump (administrative/non-tactical). No excuse for that.

Personally saw with my own eyes an SF guy do the same with a steerable parachute ( MC1 at the time) because he was "chasing" (trying to earn his senior or master parachutist badge) and was trying to land as close to the parachute turn in/parachute issue point as possible so he could quickly re-don, be inspected and then load for a subsequent jump. Landed squarely on the front hood of the parachute issue truck (2 1/2 ton or "deuce and a half") and flopped to the ground (about six feet up - oof). Was a little banged up but no major injuries. Worst part?

We had no more parachutes to issue

Speaking of kids, who's running the best and worst poster tourneys this year?

Harry is almost always the logical answer to any board-related question.
