I tried searching if there was already a thread, couldn't seem to find one, but SIAP:
I don't know why I keep trying to give DC a chance. To keep this short, Aquaman had some decently funny parts (far and few between) and I like Jason Mamoa, but the majority of this movie is SO CHEESY. Just... bad.
I know there is decent DC shows on television and Netflix, but they can't get their together on the silver screen. fricking a

Outside of Batman I never paid DC much attention. They just never seemed as creative. Marvel's characters have flaws which makes them relatable. Superman and Wonder woman are practically Mary Sues.

You may get more focused responses on the Movie/TV board, it is fairly active.

There's not enough time in my busy schedule to deal with other boards besides OT and Rant, you peasant.
(Yeah I'll for real post more over there, literally don't ever think about it

It is what it is.
A big cheesy action movie with big cheesy action scenes.
Pulling that off, believe it or not, is a big step forward for DC. On TV or through their animated movies? Easy Peasy.
On the big screen its only the second time they delivered a big cheesy action movie and didn't actively stomp on their own peckers.

It’s a comic book movie that plays like a comic book.
The MCU plays more as a movie.

That is not a bad thing. You cherry pick from the MCU movies and sure, it looks bad in comparison. But it is a perfectly fine movie.
Saying it looks horrible compared to CA: Winter Soldier, when it took Marvel quite a few movies to get to that point is mocking all the Marvel movies that came before. DC is just now, after shite canning some folks, getting started.

I enjoyed Aquaman for what it was. And it was cheesy, but it’s a comic book movie. Wasn’t expecting deep drama when I went. And while I’m not into the whole Marvel v DC thing, my least favorite super hero has always been Superman. His god-like invincibility ruins anything he is involved with. Someone called him a Mary Sue. Ole Clark Kent is the true original Mary Sue.
