Conspiracy: The FBI was spying on former Beatle John Lennon.
The truth: They most certainly were. Like many counter-culture heroes, Lennon was considered a threat: "Anti-war songs, like "Give Peace a Chance" didn't exactly endear former Beatle John Lennon to the Nixon administration," NPR reported in 2010.
"In 1971, the FBI put Lennon under surveillance, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service tried to deport him a year later."
In 1957, John Lennon and Paul McCartney met at a party in Woolton. Just yards away from their meeting place was the grave of Eleanor Rigby. A bizarre coincidence, or not?
And if you still have records from that time, you may bag a few quid.

Of course he was. The things he was openly talking about warranted the govt to put him under surveillance. He was also trying to be come a US citizen but the process was being stalled because of his political actions. Right before he died, the govt was getting ready to kick him out of the country. The guy was a very liberal, socialist POS who was completely against our capitalist system.

Its a genuine theory some have, along with him faking his death. Kinda nuts to think of that drugged out rocker as CIA who was supposed to infiltrate the "youth movement". I don't know how people came up with that but its funny

The theory about Morrison isn't implausible at all either. His father was a navy admiral. Little doubt that the CIA infiltrated the hippy movement.

Maybe they did, but to what end? What would they ahieve by having Jim Morrison saying "youre all slaves" and whipping his junk out in front of the crowd?
I could see them attempting to infiltrate the hippie movement, they spy on everyone now, but I don't see Jim Morrison being the guy
