of course Crockett was from E. TN (I grew up not far from one of his childhood homes - we went for a field trip) and East, Tennesseans don't always play well with others not even other Tennesseans. Probably why we founded that colony in Texas.

He really was. There were a lot more East, Tennesseans and Tennesseans in general who are far more worthy of being mythologized.
Davy was just mad he'd lost an election in the 1st District. Crockett also made the mistake of backing the wrong horse -- Andrew Jackson's opponent.

Besides the Alamo is like Thermopylae where 7,000 Greeks held off Xerxes 150,000 Persians. Ultimately the Greeks lost just like Davy lost but we don't talk about that part. We talk about the incredible stand against all odds.
