And both countries are under embargo. We going escalate it or let it pass?

On the face of it, it seems like Season 2 of Jack Ryan is playing out in real life.

We ignore it. Look, we can't stand both countries and yada yada, but this is just OPEC posturing. Both countries have more oil than they know what to do with.

We can easily whip either country in a fight. Occupying them, on the the other hand, would be a miserable affair that would make our current involvements in Iraq and Afghanistan seem like baby poo.

Treat this like you treat an unruly toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Ignore it and let them cry themselves out.

Venezuela is sitting on more oil than they know what to do with, but Chavez fricked them up so bad they no longer have viable infrastructure to pump it out of the ground.

When your economy is solely reliant on one fluctating commodity like oil, you're screwed when the prices collapse, regardless of who your leader is.

Price isn't what killed O&G in Venezuela. Chavez nationalized the industry, put moron cronies in charge, and kicked out all the experts (BP, Shell, etc...). Venezuela would be the same, if oil were $200 BBL.

Venezuela is the poster child for Socialism. Iran is the poster child for Islamo-facism. You don't have to hurt poster children. They hurt themselves. Let their own people decide enough is enough and throw the dictators out.

Thank God for Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers. Thank God that George Washington cared little for power and much more for a Republic.

Let me guess, Megan McCain and John Bolton want to see a bunch of American soldiers sent to their deaths?
