Long time lurker, finally made an account. Will be in OT and home/garden more than anything if/when I post. Will continue lurking elsewhere. Any pest control problems hit me up.

Have you ever heard of southern scorch?
My dad has several established trees in his yard and the bark near the ground is starting to crack on almost all of them. The cracks are only appearing on the south side of the tree and after a few years they die.
He said he read it was “southern scorch,” but I can’t find anything about that. It seems like it would be a virus or fungus, but I don’t know what kind.
