I did some surveying out there years back. People out there DO NOT take kindly to outsiders. Especially surveyors it seems. One guy was watching us out in a field through the scope on his deer rifle. 
Beautiful area though. There are many springs out there along that road that just come shooting out of the hillsides. Several beautiful creeks and boulder outcrops along that road. And several makeshift shooting targets placed along the road to make absolutely sure that people out there are armed. And don't like people coming near their place.

Folks out there are a wee bit different. And by wee bit different I mean completely off their rockers. Gorgeous scenery, but you will want to drive through at a high rate of speed and with the doors locked.

One guy out there took a car hood, painted a big bullseye target on it, shot it all to hell and placed it out by the road with a sign that read, "trespassers will be violated."

I was interviewing a kid from LH and was at the park there in town and some dick head threw out a dog. Fleas and all I threw the mut into my gov and took it home. We were heading back home that night to Illinois, so I bathed the dog, treated it, and took her with. My MIL kept the dog until she passed and now my BIL has it.

Was it a still area back 100 years ago?
