If you were doing a beach vacation, which do you prefer?

And yes, I realize that most of us would prefer a beach house, but let's say your company gave you a vacation at a nice beachfront condo. What floor level do you prefer?
lower floor 1-8
middle floor 9-16
upper floor 17-24 or more

Depends on the country -- here in Mexico, the lower floors are intolerable. If it's a quiet place, sure, being low ain't bad, but if you're going somewhere loud, go to the upper floors.

Is there a pool right below?
If not.
If so.

I've never stayed at condo on the beach that had more than 4 floors. When we stayed on the forth floor it was a bitch hauling our beach stuff even with the elevator. That being said if it has a pool or is loud the higher the better.

I did 6th floor once at Pensacola beach and it was gorgeous. I think anything 5-10 floor is perfect.

Depends when you're going and when you're arriving and departing. Going in the busy season and arriving/departing on the weekend, probably a higher floor. Elevators a PITA, but theoretically the higher you are when you're leaving, the elevator will be more empty when it comes to your floor.
Slow season, I'd want a lower floor.

Agree with this and would also add you need to consider what's important to you.
My sister in law has a beach condo we use a lot. It is on the top (14th) floor of her unit. We love it. The view is fantastic and there's absolutely no noise from the pool and other recreation areas - but we're older and have a relatively young child. We aren't going in and out all day long and we aren't staying up late into the night.
If I were younger and single, I'd choose a lower unit for easier access to and from all those things I'm happy to be isolated from now.
tl;dnr version - if you're going to party pick down low. If you're going for relaxation, head for the top.
