We've killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians over there. I'd say that's pretty fricking terrible.

Again, war is not pretty but if you think American intentionally kills innocents then I don't know what to tell you. You have clearly let the media cloud your judgement. Thankfully, those of us who have served and have been around know what war is about and everything is done with the intent of not harming civilians however mistakes do happen. Bad intel happens, bad decisions, bad leaders etc. But I can assure you that these things are investigated and these mistakes become less and less frequent.

Why? There are plenty of countries where people are more fortunate. The US isn't the only country where it's very easy to live. Look at most of the western European countries... better educational systems, far less violence, higher life expectancy, etc.
