As to the reality it was all a big cartoon like.

Back of the yard where the privacy fence dog legs at right angle between the property line and the garden. I am standing facing the neighbor when a rabbit darts out along the fence line in front of me. Dog door is the very opposite end of the back yard so my youngest male coon hound (full grown) has the whole back yard to pick up speed. Instead of going around me he shoots the small gap between my legs and I never see or hear him till I am already falling back.

Whacked the back of my head on the solid plank fence and took off a 2x2 to 3x3 patch of scalp and hair. Was told it looked like I had been scalped by a midget Indian (feather). Was lucky was not knocked out cold, but painful. In addition, reached out my arm to catch the 90 degree fence going sideways to break my fall so that shoulder took the full brunt and looks like a rotator cuff issue now, so PT for the next 2 months to see if it heals or we go to surgery.

The silver lining. The mountain Muledegon pal of mine next door passed about a year or two ago in his mid 80's. His widow heard the crack of my noggin on the fence and saw all the blood turning my head into a big red squashed mater. He was a doc before he passed so she knew a thing or two about patching me back up. Thank god I was not on blood thinners or I would have bled out. She took me to her place and cleaned and dressed the wound like a pro. Got to kick back on the couch while she made me a nice dinner. More, good news, no EMT run and no stitches. Now she changes the dressing daily in the afternoon and we chat about her kids and grandkids.

When I can stand some more time in the sun or healed to I can put a hat on again, will go over and trim her shrubs a bit as a thank you for all she did.

Hope you’re on the mend soon

Have a feeling when this heals there will be a purple scar where hair will no longer grow. Will have to wear hats all the time in the sun just to not burn it and get the skin cancer.
