No it's not. It's not saying you can't be successful because of your race, it's saying being white gives you a built in advantage to make it a little easier.
You're not making this argument, but the standard white privilege argument is used to dismiss the accomplishments of whites as not due to their abilities or effort. See Touré's tweet from the past week where he asserted Jews benefited from white privilege after the Holocaust.
Life isn't quantifiably easier for whites than blacks. And the income number breakout reinforces this. Could there be a slight advantage here and there which would add up to a statistical difference? Sure. But in the micro it makes almost zero difference. And if you haven't been passed over for an apparently less qualified minority at least once yet, you're probably not applying for promotions or you're young.

Students have a choice on where they want to go to school just like everyone has a choice on how they want to live their lives. People who work hard and devote themselves to family and hard work have the ability to be successful. Everyone may not be a CEO or upper management but you don't need to make six figures to be successful.
I agree. Not sure if that conflicts with anything I've said.

Has a black girl ever been in a top three sorority at Alabama? Are you seriously telling me there has never been one deserving candidate? I don't even want to walk down this road because if you believe that, you're a racist piece of shite.

It's similarly used to dispel a white person's capacity to empathize and effectively comment on minority issues.
If I had a dime for every time I heard: "You're a privileged white male, what could you possibly know about ______?", I'd be a rich man.

It conflicts with this statement. If your statement is true, then why would a black student want to go to Bama? Why not go somewhere where they can be afforded an experience and opportunity that "white" students get.

Objective factual claim followed by bluster and name calling.
On the green in 2 on a 425-yarder. You should be able to two-putt this for par.

Honestly, I feel like you should be put on blast. I've seen the most disgusting and hateful things on your facebook. Dropping repeated nbombs and the like because you were mad Obama won. You have so much hate for black people it is actually borderline psychotic. You say all of these things about how to come up in the world, yet call our president a n***er. How does that even make sense?
You are the last person who needs to tell minorities how to gain their ranks in this world.
You, nor I, know what it's like to grow up and live in the current state of affairs with black skin color. You have no idea, so stop pretending like you have the answers.

I don't know enough about greek societies to know what a 'top three' really means. I was called GDI for years. I'm letting you talk because you know more than I do on the matter.
As for their racism, its likely that they are racist.
But go on, tell me what we are supposed to do about the organizations.

Well, you certainly did it.
Let's see how this development plays out.

Up until this past fall, the answer was no, but a few were offered bids this past year after a publicly embarrassing incident where the granddaughter of a member of the Board of Trustees, and daughter of a state representative, who had impeccable records, was cut from the bid process by alumni of one of the big sororities. The actives wanted her, so credit where it is due. She was eventually given a bid, but the university brass still hasn't publicly condemned the sororities. She wasn't the only one. There were a handful of black girls with similar stories.

You could make the exact same argument for Alabama State and Alabama A&M regarding whites.

Those colleges don't afford the same opportunity or influence as Alabama.

I agree the actives should get credit. My first response to this thread was that it was trending more and more in the right direction. Millennials aren't as racist as their predecessors, but millenials don't hold the power in this country.

It's still a matter of privilege. Are there special schools where you get admittance based on your skin color outside of Affirmative Action?
Seriously, this system does not benefit you if you are a poor white male at all.

Let's not lie and say these fraternities have always welcomed minorities with open arms. They're typically filled with whites, and things are just now changing. It has been an opportunity for whites to take advantage of for years, while minorities were not afforded the same.
