What the deal with the lane in the middle? 4 or so going south, same going north and a single lane in the middle of the two. I don’t know that I’d ever seen that before. Weird and where does it go?

I guess HOV lanes have yet to make it to Arkansas.
It's an inbound HOV lane in the morning and then turns into an outbound HOV lane in the evenings.

No we don’t have that much damn traffic- thank the lord. In fact I said that out loud when we were in the middle of that stuff.
I’ve driven in some bigger cities before (Atl etc) and I’m not like I’m an untraveled rube- I just didn’t remember seeing that before. But I’m pretty unobservant too.
Aside, from the icky traffic, the Texans I’ve been around in the last 12 hours or so have been lovely.

Well that's good to hear. "Houstonians" (not Houstoners, lol) are typically pretty down to earth.
DFW is where all the uppity assholes live.

Umm...
1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Houston
.
.
37. Atlanta

In all fairness, I've driven in ATL and Houston countless times and I would rather drive in Houston all day every day than ATL. ATL is horrific.
Memphis is terrible during rush hour but thats because the population out grew the infrastructure at such a rate that it's hopeless and the city is broke lol

I don't claim DFW as part of Texas. As far as I'm concerned, DFW is the ballsack that hangs down from Oklahoma.

Did you know that I-45 (Galveston to Dallas) is the longest stretch of interstate entirely within one state?

Quoted for truth. There is plenty of money in Memphis, but there is so much that needs to be fixed that its just a drop in the bucket compared what they need.

Houston is pretty bad. I was surprised to see someone say Atlanta was worse, but I won't dispute that.
If you are a considerate driver in Houston, you just have to used to people whipping around you, not using blinkers etc, but none of these crazy assholes actually impeded my progress, so despite some initial anxiety and shock from how retarded people are, it wasn't that bad. And everyone is expecting everyone to drive like that so if you want to really be in a hurry everyone kind of facilitates it.

In my experience, Houston driving is a breeze compared to Atlanta.
