Done it at fast food joints and couple of chains a few times. Sometimes anonymously, sometimes not.
Doesn't matter where you do it, tbh. If I can be a blessing for someone, I try to be.
Happened to my family a couple for times when I was a kid and it left an impression on me.

And I call with
Matthew 7:1
Judge not lest ye be judged
OR what Paul said in Romans 14
Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall.

John 8:7
But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

Thanks for this reply. I was just seeking the "why" for doing the deed. Thanks again for your reply.

The wife and I were headed to North Carolina a few weeks ago.
We were having lunch and two WWII vets came in a was seated at a table across from ours. The were both PROUDLY wearing their service caps. One was using a walker and had very limited mobility.
As their order was delivered I noticed the able bodied of the two began seasoning salt/pepper his friends food for him. As we finished our meal I asked my wife to pay for their meal as she was paying ours and that while she was paying I was going over to their table and thank them for their contributions to our GREAT country.
I approached them, introduced myself and gave them thanks.
I know this is long but it was so wonderful of a circumstance I didn't want omit the outcome.
They began telling me that the were both 19 when the were drafted. Both served together, both retired the same year. Both were married 50 plus years. Both had 4 children and were now in the same retirement home. They are both 90 years old.
My wife came up and we spoke a few more minutes and bid them farewell. As we were leaving my wife looked at me and grinned that familiar shite eating grin i get when she is happy. We didn't pay these two great men's bill. The waitress told my wife that it had already been taken care of and that we were the 4th party offering to do so. Chills hit me every time I look back at that day.

On a related note, I hate when someone in line ahead of you pays for your food then the cashier tells you and asks if you would like to do the same for the person behind you. Like, it doesn't mean the same when someone has to ask you to do it.
