Conspiracy: The CIA was testing LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs on Americans in a top-secret experiment on behavior modification.
The truth: The program was known as MK-ULTRA, and it was real.
The CIA started by using volunteers - the novelist Ken Kesey was one notable subject.
But the program heads soon began dosing people without their knowledge; MK-ULTRA left many victims permanently mentally disabled.
At the present time, another drug that alters food and perception and is causing great public concern because of its harmful effects is meth.

Just another reason to laugh at Boomers when they try and claim they didn't have it easier than Millennials. Never, NOT EVEN ONCE, has the government ever given me a single free dose of lab quality LSD

This thread has potential but you killed it Pio when you tried to link LSD to meth.
Dosing people with LSD was one part of one subset within the "MKULTRA" program. It went far beyond just dosing people with drugs.
One form of mind control they used they took from the NAZIs. Joseph Mangele (sp?) was a NAZI doctor that the US acquired post WW2 in project paperclip. What he was working on was torturing children under the age of six in order to force the mind to compartmentalize hypnotic triggers being administered simultaneously with inducing PTSD through physical violence.
The result is a "Manchurian Candidate". Someone who has been programed to carry out tasks years in advance who goes about their normal life not even knowing this other side of themselves even exists until they are given a trigger word. At which point they become full automaton. No LSD necessary in what I just described.

ETA: At one point someone posted some of the MK documents somewhere online and I read through them.
One experiment they conducted on two teenage girls. Both had been victims of gun violence in the past and had a genuine fear of being anywhere near guns.
After they had tinkered with the girls brains awhile they were able to hypnotically convince one of the girls to pick up a gun and shoot the other in the face with it, place the gun back down on the table and when they brought her back she recoiled from the sight of the gun as if she never even knew it was there.
The weapon had blanks in it, so she didn't kill the other girl, but she would have.
Crazy ish. And that's stuff the government was doing back in the 50s and 60s. No telling how good at it they are now.

You missed the forest for the trees there. The reason people listen to everything they say is because they have been programmed to do so. It's pretty obvious. Otherwise nobody would ever believe one fricking word any of those dipshits have to say. They're all goddamn liars and everyone knows it.
