I have mixed feelings about Key West. The climate and beaches are great... such a shame that it will take a good part of the day to find a beach without 50 condos squatting on it. The food is okay... some places fantastic. Other places "look, we put up a tiki torch!" tourism hell with over priced and under flavored seafood.
I think my biggest issue is that the place reeks of being fake. If you are gay you are flamboyantly gay. If you are liberal you are so far to the left that Bernie Sanders leaves copies of "The Wealth of Nations" laying around for you to read. If you are conservative, and trust me, they are there, you are so far to the right that Elon Musk has his flunkies drop off "Das Kapital" on your doorstep.
Every tourist town has its fair share of playing the part. It just seems like everyone in Key West is playing the part though. Key West may be the least authentic place I've ever visited. And that includes the Disney parks.

There are some nice strip clubs there though. Boobies might be fake, but there are still out there for all to see.

We need never return
The wife and I both think it is over priced and not worth the cost to visit.

It is nice to see once. More than that, thank you no. Now, some of the other islands in that area look like they'd be nice to spend a few relaxing days at.

Went one day on a cruise ship. Walked to that southernmost point. They had a sewage issue somewhere and sewer water was running down the street. Most of that area looked run down

I think we've all been here so long, I swear we're syncing up menstral cycles or something.
I found a clip of Steve Buschemi a couple of days ago but wasn't sure where to post it, and then Mr. Grits made that thread about movies scenes.
Then literally yesterday I was thinking about Mazzy Star and you post this.
Here, this is probably something you've been ruminating on:
