One of the more fortuitous events in the lead up to the Second World War. Edward was not only a Nazi sympathizer he would have made a disastrous wartime King.

The TV show "The Crown" tried to present him in a more favorable light as merely being deeply flawed but the man was vermin.

An extremely important war that is mostly ignored in the West. Russia got the teetotal sh*t kicked out of it in a crushing defeat. Not only did it set the stage for Japan to become a major power but it wrecked belief in the Russian monarchy. That eventually left the door open for the Communists to seize power during World War I with repercussions still felt today.
