it really is an up hill battle for republicans because the biggest of the media is leaning left and way left now. they tear apart anyone person they can even well spoken people like mittens. So then they get ahold of someone like palin and its just like batting practice to them.

The republicans also do a terrible job on how they disagree with issues. they isolate too many groups and every issue seems to have the same fight for them instead of having a few issues they fight strongly about and focusing on core issues.

I agree but i think its at a greater degree now than before but that could also be because its easier to see with social media.

it probably seems that way because we are all connected to one another through the interwebz and all that shite. but i really dont think humanity as a whole is as bad at being "sheep" now than in any other point in time

very possible just like people think america is more dangerous today or people are more evil today than before, when really its the other way around but because of the 24/7 news cycle and the social media you find out about every little thing.

This. The media traditionally leans left, though. Not complaining, it is what it is. But Palin-types really are low hanging fruit. Gotta be smarter than that if you're the GOP. Actual politics don't matter as much as managing public perception in the current social-media driven political climate.

Yup. Entirely to fragmented/divisive to present a strong front. Of course we're (Republicans) are getting decimated the past few elections. The beatings will continue until we wise up. This really isn't rocket science.

This.

It's just so much more apparent now with the advent of social media. Opinions that were previously almost exclusively shared face to face or only in the company of others in absolute agreement with your cause/opinion are now thrown out there for the masses to see on a regular basis.

Oh cool, I didn't realize you can win an argument simply by quoting someone that lived in a completely different world than we do today.

But for real, I didn't come here to argue. I posted my opinion knowing it would be unpopular but am not in the mood for a back-and-forth about it.

Have you lost your mind? The banter is the only reason I click these threads.

I fricking love to argue.

media will always lean left but i do think its way worse than before. They use to at least try to play down the middle. The last 5 years the only time they even got close to the middle was over the white house tapping their phones.

no doubt the party is too fragmented right now and the only way for someone to get the nomination is for them to bend over to the extremes. I think if a mass. gov mittens runs he would have won, he couldn't though because clowns like perry, newt and santorum forced him to make changes by not dropping out even sooner.

This was a post I had to google I had earlier about religion, some edited and redacted, and I added some at the end.

- I believe in right and wrong.
- I believe in evolution.
- I believe young earth creationists are stupid.
- I don't believe Jesus was born to a virgin.
- I don't believe any of the previous three things are important at all. Making peace with God, and the short time you have on this earth, shouldn't be wasted on the semantics of some stupid book of fairy tales.
- I don't believe the only way to salvation, if that is even a real concept as those that throw it around, is through Jesus. But I don't care if people use Jesus as a moral compass, nor do I care if they use Allah, Mohamed, Moses, Joseph Smith, or Tom Cruise. Honesty in your intentions and actions can be seen a mile away, and the nastiness of human nature can present itself in all forms, and forgiveness may only be granted by God, but it can be asked for by man. That is why there is no Jesus force field, so don't try to hide behind it. If you stand for something, exist in without flinching. Regardless of what it is you will be at peace through transparency.
- I believe any and all things I believe are subject to change.
- I believe that Texas A&M University is the greatest institution on the planet.
- I believe that beer brings happiness to all and I wish I live all my life with a healthy relationship towards alcohol because I have seen many people that were never able to.
- I believe that I have an unhealthy attraction to blonde women, but I don't give a shite.
- I believe that life is precious, and none more valuable than my little sister. I would take a bullet for her.
- I believe the regulation and taxation of oil companies is out of control, but we will make it in spite of them.
- I believe the warm summer nights are where friendships are made and people fall in love.
- I believe in like half of the Bull Durham speech. The small of a woman's back, that LHO acted alone, and soft core porno are definitely the strong points. Kisses that last too long, not opening your presents ASAP, and banning the designated hitter are the weaker points.
- I believe that steroids are cheating, and they ruined the greatest record in sports; 755 career home runs.
- I believe that the 12th Man is the greatest tradition in college football, and I was honored to be a part of it.
- I believe that Kurt Cobain wasn't overrated, and that he had a voice that should be revered with Frank Sinatra's.
- I believe that Catcher in the Rye was a terrible book, and was almost as bad as Dead Poet's Society was a movie.
- I believe that if you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band.
- I believe that cold mountain air and a beautiful beach are best enjoyed without a cell phone.
- I believe in remembering a girl's favorite flowers, and asking for her father's permission.
- I believe in pre-marital sex and monogamy.
- Cameron Diaz in the Mask is the the closest thing to the mythical 10 there is.
- I believe that Kevin Smith movies are underrated, but Mike Judge's are the most underrated of all time.
- I believe that Jerry Jones the owner should fire Jerry Jones the GM.
- I believe a real man should own at least two pairs of cowboy boots. One black and one brown.
- I believe that we are all a part of the human condition, and when the constant struggle for empathy reaches a situation to which we can't relate, we are confronted with our true humanity. That only in times where we accept the legitimacy of the different comprehensions of the world around us, do we become masters of that time and we start to deserve what little of it we were given.
- I believe that sex is meant for lovers; emotionless sex is boring.
- I believe in staring in to a woman's eyes and finding happiness.
- I don't believe we should have income tax, but people that try not to pay it are scum.
- I believe that listening to thunderstorms in the closest I come to seeing my own soul.
- I believe that skinny ties are stupid.
- I believe that the United States landed on the moon with no more than the power of a basic calculator.
- I believe diamond rings are terrible and generic for an engagement ring, but my future wife will get what she wants.
- I believe marijuana should be legal, but I also view it as a gateway drug.
- I believe dog is man's best friend.
- I believe that The Dallas Cowboys are the greatest franchise in all of professional sports.
- I think blue jeans should be perfectly acceptable attire for all occasions.
- I don't believe a woman should stay at home with the kids.
- I believe in real tits and long hair.
- I believe in falling asleep with her in your arms and waking up with her in your heart. The touch of a woman's skin you are in love with against yours as you just fall asleep or just wake is the best part the day.
- I don't believe there are aliens among us.
- I believe in making enough to money to jump on a plane and go anywhere you desire.
- I believe that craps is best form of gambling.
- I believe that everyone should have the right to vote. Restricting the uneducated and the poor is ignorance to our own faults, and admitting we can't educate our own citizens.
- I believe in road head and kissing her after if she wants to.

I've got some more, but I might be repeating myself.

I cringe every time something big goes down in the political arena because it makes both newsfeeds completely unreadable for days on end

I mainly have social media so I can keep up with friends who've been scattered to the corners of the country and globe for various reasons, but some days it feels like it's just a giant debate club without any semblance of a moderator.
