“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty” (14:23).
“Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in the summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son” (10:4,5).

For those who think it is a sin to be rich, I encourage you to read the story of Job. A quick summary:
1. Job is a very wealthy and well-known man in his region
2. Satan claims that Job is such a good person because of his riches, and that he would curse God if he lost his wealth.
3. God agrees to Satan's challenge, with the one condition that he is not allowed to kill Job.
4. Satan kills off Job's family, destroys his estate, and takes away everything Job once had.
5. Job remained faithful despite everything that had happened.
6. God blessed him with even more than he originally had in the beginning.
If being rich was a sin, why would God Himself bless Job with so much wealth? Truth is, being rich is not a sin. It's what you do with your wealth that has the potential to be sinful. If wealth becomes your focus instead of God, or if you don't help others who might need help, then that is where problems arise. But the idea that God doesn't want us to be successful and wealthy in this life is silly

If you're a Christian then it's impossible to be rich. If you're rich and you don't give everything to the poor except for your "daily bread," that's a sin.
You can't accumulate wealth and still be a Christian.

quote:
“Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.” (Prov 30:8-9)
quote:
Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, as it is written: ‘He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little.’ ” (2 Cor 8:13-15)
Sounds like Jesus was a communist.

You're putting words in Jesus' mouth (definitely a sin)

It sounds more like the Bible contradicts itself.

You think that means money?

The fact that this is getting so much attention is stupid. Who gives a rats arse that a guy got fired/"Suspended" for saying something on a public platform that his bosses didn't agree with?

If read in the proper context, it actually does not.

You'll get nothing and like it
Jesus was Judge Smails
The Gentiles are Spaulding

History. What comes before. What comes after. Who said it. Who they were saying it to. Whey they were saying it.
It's not as black and white as it seems to people that are just interested in proof-texting the scriptures to use in an argument.

Here's the thing: Let's pretend for second that the verse in question is talking about worldly possessions. If the blessing of The Lord brings you wealth, then it's a sin not to share that wealth with the poor until all you have is shelter, clothing, and your daily bread.
